Art for the Mind: Session 3

Wednesday, July 22, 5-7pm Session 3: The Shape of Emotion

2 hr
40 US dollars
200 State St N

Service Description

Participants will give visual form to a difficult-to-describe emotion or inner experience, such as shame, “not good enough,” heaviness, or self-doubt, by creating an abstract character or representation. Afterward, participants will reflect on what it means to make space for these feelings with kindness and acceptance, without needing to like them or push them away. Dr. Martin will guide participants in exploring emotional avoidance, self-compassion, and how naming or externalizing feelings can help us relate to them differently. Supplies provided. Participants must be 16+ years old. Also, this workshop series uses creative expression to support mental wellness and is for educational and personal enrichment purposes only. Although Dr. Martin is a clinical psychologist, this class will not be used to diagnose, treat, or provide therapy for any mental health condition.
